Despite efforts to the contrary, our lives are mostly spent in ordinary and boring spaces. Ben Loescher, Architect and Program Manager at The Center for Land Use Interpretation, will present recent projects studying these landscapes, and discuss the extraordinary potential of the common and pervasive, the practical vernacular, and the normative practices that inform the world that we occupy and experience.

Ben Loescher, AIA is a principal of Loescher | Meachem Architects and Program Manager at the Center for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI). Recent exhibitions with CLUI include Elevated Descent: The Helipads of Downtown Los Angeles and Urban Crude: The Oil Fields of the Los Angeles Basin. In the Spring of 2013, Office Trailers: Invisible Architecture of the Urban Fabric will be included as part of the Getty Foundation’s exhibition Overdrive: Los Angeles Constructs the Future 1950-1990. Loescher has lectured and led numerous field trips on subjects related to land use and infrastructure. Loescher previously served as Project Director and Project Architect for projects at Clive Wilkinson Architects including Google’s Mountain View headquarters and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising’s San Diego campus, both of which were recognized with AIA National Honor Awards.
